This recipe will make a 4oz pot of Ocean Slime using Slime Labs All-In One Activator and PVA Glue.

Slime making is a great science based sensory activity for adults and children alike as slime is a non-Newtonian fluid, it is neither solid nor liquid!

Ingredients:

To make 4oz (or about 120ml) of glossy, blue glitter slime you’ll need to gather the following ingredients:

  • PVA Glue 120ml – you can use clear, or white, it’s up to you! We’ve used clear glue for this recipe.
  • Slime Labs All-In-One Slime Activator – up to 50ml, the amount you will need to add, depends on the brand of glue you use!
  • A few drops of blue food colouring.
  • A lolly stick or spoon for stirring.
  • About 4 grams of blue medium glitter.

Steps:

1. Start by adding about 120ml of glue to a slime pot or a bowl (we chose this amount as we have found that ready-made slime is most often sold in this quantity).

Make sure you have something to stir the slime with as it activates, we recommend a lolly stick or the handle of a spoon.

2. You can add your glitter to the glue, if you aren’t sure of the quantity we’d say start with 2grams, you can always add more near the end if it isn’t enough.

Add a few drops of your blue food colouring, mix until you get the right shade, more for a darker, richer colour, or less for a more subtle shade.

3. Slowly add the Slime Labs All-In-One Activator solution to the mixture a few drops at a time and stir. Start with just a few drops, stir and assess. If you add too much activator your slime won’t be as stretchy and slimy and you’ll end up with something more like a putty.

4. Once you think you have the right consistency, empty the slime out onto a clean and stain resistant surface (like the kitchen sideboard) and start to squish and stretch the slime as you normally would. If it is too sticky, pop it back into the bowl and add another drop or two of activator and stir.

Once you're happy with the consistency of the slime- you're done! Simply find a suitable sealed container to keep it in once you've finished playing with your slime, and to stay out of trouble, try to keep it off the carpet!

Troubleshooting:

My Slime is more like putty and it is not stretchy, it is too stiff, what do I do?

You have added too much activator, add a little glue at a time until it is a consistency you are happy with.

My Slime is too sticky, what do I do?

Add a tiny bit more activator and stir, repeat until it is less sticky

FAQ:

How long will my slime last?

If you keep the slime in a sealed container, it can be kept for a few months, depending on how often it is played with. You can add a little bit of activator to “refresh” the slime if it has got a bit less stretchy, this can be hit and miss though.

What is the activator made with?

Our slime activator is made with Borax, you should ensure that you wash your hands thoroughly after use and avoid contact with eyes, do not ingest.

What is the ratio of PVA Glue to Activator?

This depends on the type of glue you use and the consistency, you usually only need a small splash of activator per 120ml of PVA Glue.
